Hi All,
We've got a great lecture coming up this Thursday at 5pm. Hope to see
you there!
*Will Paris Make a Difference? Living with Climate Change*
by Dale Jamieson
When: 5pm Thursday, April 21st, 2016
Where: Main Lecture Hall, Franklin Patterson Hall, Hampshire College
*Abstract*: The twenty-first Conference of the Parties (COP21) of the
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Paris
ended with an agreement that some call "the world's greatest diplomatic
success" while others insist it is "too weak" and full of "false hope".
Paris has created a pathway for success, but the Agreement itself cannot
ensure it. Prof. Jamieson will outline some of the challenges ahead.
*Dale Jamieson* is Professor of Environmental Studies and Philosophy,
Affiliated Professor of Law, Affiliated Professor of Bioethics, and
Chair of the Environmental Studies Department at New York University. He
has held visiting appointments at the National Center for Atmospheric
Research, Cornell, Princeton, Stanford, Oregon, Arizona State
University, and Monash University in Australia, and is a former member
of the School of Social Sciences at the Institute for Advanced Study in
Princeton.
This event is organized by the Ethics & the Common Good Project.
