Jessamyn will speak on how the ways that librarianship as a profession
does and does *not* support ambition and other important aspects of
forward-thinking careerism. She will discuss the blogging phenomenon,
getting published, professional development, "the image thing", and touch
on networking, mindshare, and the perils of staying in one place. She can
also answer questions about the ALA, the Council, and issues of concern.
Jessamyn West is the co-editor of _Revolting Librarians Redux: Radical
Librarians Speak Out_, author of the Librarian.net web site, and an ALA
Council member. She is currently working for the Rutland Free Library in
Vermont, doing outreach, reference work and maintaining the web site.
Ask her about being a librarian in the middle of nowhere.
