Dear JSUniks,
Students have been asking what is appropriate to wear to services here. If you are attending the JCA with the JSU tonight, you will see that many people there are wearing pretty simple, very comfortable clothing, often in shades of white or light colors. Wearing something white or light colored is a reminder that we are seeking to purify ourselves. For shoes, Many wear tennis shoes or crocs, since its customary not to wear leather on Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur is a day of deprivation and reflection.

Please don’t stress about this—Just be comfortable! People wear different kinds of clothing, just nothing really showy things.
Look forward to seeing you this evening,

Ellen
