[Jewish] "ISRAEL IS AN APARTHEID STATE?"** - Fight the 'BIG LIE' with the truth

First of all right now I'm speaking in my capacity as signer and
list-administrator. As only one of three signers, my opinions are not
automatically those of the JSUs, so if my fellow signers signers (or anyone
else in the JSU) disagrees with anything I say here, I encourage you to respond
so we can clarify JSU position on controversial issues like this. On to your
complaints:

I agree with you that this email probably shouldn't have been passed along to
this list-serv. As list administrator, that's my bad, and I apologize. In
defense, I argue that I'm busy with lots of things besides administering the
list-serv, and the list-serv administrator interface makes it really hard to
tell what a given e-mail says, and generally if it looks like an email might be
about something of interest to the Jewish community at Hampshire I forward it
along. I'm mostly just happy it's not another email offering us penis
enlargement medicine. I mean come on, I know the stereotype about Jewish men,
but still? :-)

However, just to clarify to the JSU, I do not feel that the JSU needs to
stringently avoid any mention of Israel. As a non-political group, we take no
official stance on the issue. However, we are here to service the Jewish
community, and as that community tends to be intimately tied up with Israel,
things concerning Israel concern the JSU. Therefore, I will continue to forward
emails about things that I think are Israel related that aren't purely espousing
one side (or the other's) political views. In the future, I will try and avoid
emails like the one you complained about, but I am not in favor the JSU
avoiding Israel like being Jewish has nothing to do with Israel. I am also not
promising that emails like the one below won't slip past me from time to time,
although I'll do my best.
