Hey Asian Media,
Believe it or not, there was a really cool Japanese horror flick which I wanted
to show this week, but Netflix is being obnoxious and won't get it to me in
time, so I guess maybe we'll save it for another week. If you're interested in
checking out a creepy movie though, it's called "Premonition" and it's directed
by Norio Tsuruta, who's the guy behind movies like "Ringu".

So instead we're heading in a different direction this week, plus we'll be
giving out all 120 pieces the FREE halloween CANDY I have stashed away so maybe
you'll want to join us anyway for:

8PM - A Chinese Ghost Story - A cult classic in Hong Kong cinema, Ghost Story
introduces us to Ning Tsai-Shen, who, while spending the night at the haunted
Lan Ro temple, falls in love. Unfortunately, he’s fallen for a ghost, bound for
all eternity by a hideous tree spirit that sucks out its victim’s life essence
and turns them into vicious zombies. A wonderful mixture of action, comedy and
horror (and maybe a little good natured campiness), Ghost Story influenced
movies from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, to Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead.

9:30PM- Akira Kurosawa's Dreams - Dreams is a collection of 8 short films,
visual retellings of five actual dreams (and three chilling nightmares) of the
director, the infamous Akira Kurosawa. Co-produced by Steven Spielberg and
starring Martin Scorsese, Dreams takes us through wars, life, death, demons,
nature, and even up the peaks of snow covered mountains as we explore just how
far one man’s subconscious can go.

As always, the screenings are every Thursday night in the West Lecture Hall of
FPH, so stop on by and bring a friend. Hell, it's halloween, bring a costume.
