[Asianmedia] Screening for 2-16-06

Hello Asian Media,
So I believe we managed to rope in some new people this week at Hampfest. I
guess now is the time to tell all of you about some great deals we want to
offer you on viagra and free iPods and porno and whatnot.

Since that's such a long spiel though and I'm tired, I think I'll save it for
another time and just tell you about the pure, unadulturated awesome we'll be
screening for y'all this week, starting with:

8:00-Genshiken-Continuing in our weekly series this semester, Genshiken is an
anime about an anime club in Japan. As we've seen so far, it's an interesting
and sometimes scary look into Japan's geek culture. In the two episodes this
week, the club is in danger of being shut down by student activities, and the
non-geek girl who's going out with a geek begins to think that he finds anime
and video games more interesting then her.

9:00-Kung Fu Hustle-A smash hit in theatres last summer, this makes fun of the
martial arts genre of movies that Americans usually see come out of China. Set
in the 1940's in China, the country is controlled by roaming gangs, most
notably, the ruthless "Axe" gang. Trouble brews when a poor rundown tenement
accidently insults the gang, but there's more going on in this tenement then it
seems. There are some great martial arts sequences and slapstick comedy that
make this definately worth seeing.
