Happy new Year! I hope this email finds you well and rested after the long
weekend. We are very excited to announce the launch of the first Brown Boi
Project cohort of 2010 and I am sending a special request out ask you to
help us identify young (The program is for folks 35 and under but we are
looking for more folks 17-25 without a college degree in particular) men of
color, trans men of color, and masculine of center womym of color. If you
can help us spread the info below and identify folks I would really
appreciate it.

Thanks,

Cole

The Brown Boi Project is a leadership development and organizing project for
young (35 and under) masculine of center womyn, trans men, and straight men
of color to build collective power within their communities—pipelining them
into the social justice movement. (‘masculine of center’ is a term that
recognizes the breadth and depth of identity for lesbian/queer/ womyn who
tilt toward the masculine side of the gender scale and includes a wide range
of identities such as butch, stud, aggressive, AG, dom, etc.)

During the 5-day training retreat participants will have the opportunity to
work across issues and communities, talk about race, class, culture, gender
and sexuality, and explore whether the social justice sector might be the
right place to help their community. These retreats bring participants from
across the country to experience an intensive introduction to community
organizing while doing important personal leadership development.

We’re looking for people who are interested in a new path or career that
builds power for communities of color. You will receive training in
understanding power, communications, cross culture coalition building,
personal finance, community organizing, conflict resolution, fundraising,
relationship building, gender justice, and personal life planning. *The
program is open to participants from around the country and if you are
selected your travel, lodging, and food will be covered to attend the
retreat in Oakland, CA from March 17th-21st. *
