Marvelyn is an Emmy Award winning international AIDS activist and author.
Marvelyn was a former top track and basketball athlete in college when she was
infected with HIV/AIDS, at age 19. The disease made her an outcast not only on
campus but also among those she loved. After years of struggling with the
disease and the associated stigma, Marvelyn now at 25 has decided to bring
something positive out of her illness and educate others about HIV/AIDS. In her
lecture Marvelyn will give an in-depth look into the serious world of HIV and
AIDS, the dangers of unprotected sex and the importance of self-love and
self-responsibility.

Marvelyn Brown,is considered one of the top 25 Heroes of the past twenty-five
years of the AIDS epidemic. She has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN
Documentary Black in America, MTV, Newsweek, and Ebony Magazine. She won an
Emmy in 2007 for for Outstanding National Public Service Announcement and has
written a book called, the Naked Truth: Young, Beautiful and (HIV) positive,
published in 2008.
