Hey everyone, there is this really dope organization based out of nyc
its called FIERCE. FIERCE is a membership-based organization building
the leadership and power of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and
queer (LGBTQ) youth of color in New York City. We develop politically
conscious leaders who are invested in improving ourselves and our
communities through youth-led campaigns, leadership development
programs, and cultural expression through arts and media. FIERCE is
dedicated to cultivating the next generation of social justice
movement leaders who are dedicated to ending all forms of oppression.

And they are having a major fundraising program this friday. Our
friends and or associates Ana and Emerson are representing a bowling
team and they really need money. I know we are all, in the words of
Jova Vargas, "broke as a joke" but if we could scrape up anything and
donate as much as we can, Hampshire students can collectively come up
with some money. I think is a super important cause and i wouldnt ask
otherwise. I am forwarding an e-mail ana sent some folks on campus
about it and will be taking donations all day, if folks dont have cash
but have cards and can afford to donate please let me know and we will
figure out how you can do so...also if you know anyone who can donate
or ppl who should be aware of this pass it on. I am forwarding the
e-mail that ana sent about the fundrasier (bowl a thon) which should
be able to give you more info ab what this is about....

Sorry this e-mail was super long and super late notice but i figured
it doesnt hurt to try.

Ana's e-mail:

"dear friends & family!

On october 25th, I'm participating in FIERCE's first bowl-a-thon
fundraiser - appropriately titled "The ReBOWLution!" I need your help
to raise money to support my team and to support the amazing
leadership development and community organizing work that LGBTQ youth
of color are doing at FIERCE.

FIERCE, was founded by LGBTQ youth, mostly youth of color back in
2000, and was at the time and still is the only by youth for youth
queer organization that is fighting to preserve the beloved
Christopher St. pier and other parts of the West Village as a safe
space for LGBTQ youth of color. This neighborhood has been the heart
of our community for over 30 years and is under threat by private
developers, intense police harassment and criminalization, wealthy
property owners gentrifying the neighborhood, and businesses who would
rather see our community kicked out.

But LGBTQ youth of color in NYC are strong and recognize this
injustice! We say Who's Pier? Queer Pier! Help LGBTQ youth of color
take a stand, and fight back by pledging today to support me and my
bowl-a-thon team!

What ever you can pledge would be awesome! $5, $10, $25, $50, or $100
- all will help me raise my goal of $500!

Thank you,

Ana Gordon-Loebl

PS- To donate to me go to www.fiercenyc.kintera.org/bowlathon and
click on "Donate in support of a bowler" and then type in my name.
It's simple and easy and you can use your credit/debit card to donate
TODAY! "

*** Let me know if you have any questions.
best,
Jess
