[Sisters] 'Fire' - film screening at the Cultural Center

dear sisters,
hope you're all enjoying the crisp weather and the autumnal hues that are
transforming our campus. this is to let you know about the film screening that
we have organized. please mark your calenders for friday, the 3rd of October -
we are screening Deepa Mehta's acclaimed 'Fire' (part of her elemental
trilogy). This event is co-hosted by QIPOC.
>From 3pm to 5.30pm at the Cultural Center.
We will be providing food.

Fire is about closeted homosexuality and the repercussions of being outed within
a conservative society. Set in India, this film address the themes of religion,
marital life, customs and traditional gender roles and lesbianism. It holds
powerful performances and an intricate plot.

We will be following the screening by a discussion about the issues raised by
the film.
