Hello to all faculty, staff and students on the Climate Change List,

There is an open letter circulating nationally to ask all academic
institutions to lead on climate change. I invite you to take a look and
consider signing it. The link is http://academiaunited.org, and the letter
includes the below brief statement. Best, Sarah

"We, the undersigned faculty, students, and staff of U.S. colleges and
universities, urge the leaders of our institutions to develop a unified,
national academic climate initiative that includes:

(1) working with states, cities, and businesses to lead the U.S. effort to
fight climate change;

(2) agreeing on local measures for our campuses that reflect Paris
Agreement guidelines;

(3) coordinating and strengthening science, technology, and education on
climate change;

(4) informing the public about climate change science, impacts, and
potential solutions."

Dear colleagues  --

As you know, the U.S. government is withdrawing from the Paris Agreement.
This is a serious blow to the effort to prevent catastrophic climate
change. Fortunately, coalitions of local governments and businesses are
stepping forward now to provide American leadership on the biggest issue of
our time. Academia has a central role to play in these efforts, and our
impact will be greatest if we work together.

*Therefore, we are circulating an open letter urging the leaders of U.S.
academic institutions to unite in their efforts to combat climate change*.
We will forward this letter to the leadership of colleges and universities
nationwide:

We hope you will consider signing this letter, and forward it to other
faculty, students, and staff.

Thank you,
