My name is Varshini Prakash, and I'm a student at UMass Amherst and the
newest member of the ad comm for Climate Action Now Mass. I'm also the
Pioneer Valley coordinator for the 350 Massachusetts' *Deval Patrick
Climate Legacy Campaign: a three-pronged movement to:*

    1.
*Ban the worst (namely coal and natural gas infrastructure) *
    2. *Build only the best (ensure that all new electricity demand is met
by conservation, efficiency, and renewable energy sources) *
    3.
*Make big polluters pay (initiate a carbon tax in Mass) *

As many of you know, Climate Action Now, as a node of 350MA, has signed on
as a partner of this Campaign, which is exciting considering our area has
been plagued by recent fracking threats, existing coal infrastructure, and
continued environmental injustices. One of our immediate state-wide goals
to impel Governor Patrick to recognize the Campaign and take action is a
letter and call drive to his office.

By November 11th (next Tuesday!), we will flood Governor Patrick's office
and our local media with enough statements regarding the Campaign that he
will agree to meet with us privately. *But we need your help for any of
this to happen!*

*This Thursday from 6-7 PM in Herter Hall
<http://climateactionnowma.org/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=93&qid=716>
Room
217 we will be having a Campaign party (food, trainings, practical
application of trainings) to get practice calling and writing to various
media and to the Governor himself. *

We'd love to see you there! Here's a preliminary agenda:

6:00 ? 6:15 Eat pizza, intros, quick icebreaker

6:15 ? 6:30 Phone Banking Training

6:30 ? 6:40 Practice with a partner and then make real calls to the
Governor!

6:40 ? 6:50 Letter Writing Training

6:50 ? 7:00 Write a letter to the Governor

7:00 ? 7:15 Social time!

Thanks for all you do!

Onward,

Varshini

PS. If you can't make it to UMass on Thursday night you can still
participate in this important Campaign to help protect our planet and
future. Please visit our *Deval Patrick Climate Legacy
