Systems Administrator (IT III), Information Technology Group

Keene State College seeks a Systems Administrator to join a
service-oriented team in the Information Technology Group.

The Information Technology Group provides a range of technology services
and technical support to the Keene State campus. Campus information
systems and services consist of business and student services,
instructional delivery, and campus communications. Keene State College
is primarily a Windows environment with some key systems running AIX
(UNIX) and Linux. Enterprise servers are operating in physical
environments of virtual environments. Enterprise servers are primarily
hosted on Dell or IBM hardware. For database environments, we use a
combination of SQL, Oracle and IBM's Unidata. Our future plan is to
migrate from Unidata to SQL.

The Systems Administrator will work on a team of 25 full-time staff and
more directly with two other systems administrators. The Systems
Administrator role is expected to:
Provide direction, analysis and design for enterprise technology
including 120+ servers existing in both physical and virtual
environment.
Use best practices for server management to include performance
reliability and optimization, capacity planning, disaster recovery
procedures and testing, backup and restore procedures, storage
management and planning in a SAN environment and adherence to best
practices for system administration security and documentation.
Management of enterprise data center with redundant cooling and power.
Work closely with vendors to leverage current technology and research
new opportunities.
Participate as the technical lead in project teams.
Work in collaboration with Help Desk and other ITG staff to resolve
technical issues.
Provide rotating after-hours, on-call coverage.

Qualifications Required: A Bachelor's degree and four years of
experience in the information technology field, Associate's degree and
six years of experience in the information technology field, or
combination of education and experience to equal eight years. Three
years' experience in the following areas: the designing, planning,
implementation and management of server systems and storage, providing
technical leadership, critical thinking, and solving complex technical
problems in both an independent self-directed manner and team approach
and as a systems administrator responsible for overseeing
mission-critical technology services. Demonstrated customer service
skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with
technical and non-technical stakeholders; proven organizational and
documentation skills; understanding of project management methodology;
strong work ethic with a proven ability to work well independently and
as part of a team.

Candidates must also have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Active
Directory 2003 or above, exchange 2003 or above,VMware virtual server
environment, VMware 4.0 or above, data/file storage and/or SAN
management, Linux/Unix administration, backup and recovery for
enterprise systems/applications, disaster recovery strategy and
procedures.

Additional Desirable Qualifications: Experience in a higher educational
environment; experience leading project teams; Microsoft certification,
Red Hat certification; strong working knowledge of the following
technologies: Microsoft AD 2008, Exchange 2010, Unified Communications
Platform, Red Hat Enterprise 3.0+, AIX 5.0, backup Exec version 9 thru
12, Dell EqualLogic Storage Arrays, APC data center management software
console, MS SQL 2005 or above, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, System
Center Configuration Manager; experience managing an enterprise data
center, knowledgeable with on-call rotation of 24x7 coverage.

Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that
support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus
community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a
multicultural perspective to the campus. Salary range: $54,280-$61,620,
normally not to exceed $68,990, complemented by a generous benefits
package.
