A lecture about Emily Dickinson by biographer Lyndall Gordon
Biographer Lyndall Gordon discusses her new book, _Lives like Loaded
Guns: Emily Dickinson and Her Family's Feuds_. This provocative work
proposes epilepsy as the cause of the poet's enigmatic behavior and
creativity, and examines the family's multi-layered saga after
Dickinson's death. Gordon is the author of prize-winning biographies of
Eliot, Woolf, and Charlotte Brontë. She is Senior Research Fellow at St
Hilda’s College, Oxford.
The event is free and open to the public
A booksigning and reception will follow the lecture.
Co-sponsored by the Amherst College Archives and Special Collections,
the Emily Dickinson Museum, and the Jones Library Special Collections
