Hi, Libri -- this event is being organized by Laurie Sanders, whom you likely know from her WFCR work.

I imagine a gaggle of book people all perusing a Darnton text (incoming Director of the Harvard Libraries, it has just been announced) or perhaps Daniel Berkeley Updike's PRINTING TYPES?

Bring a lawn chair, your favorite book and kick off your summer reading
season by participating in a World Record Setting Event!
 
LOUNGING FOR LITERACY Saturday, June 9 1-3 pm

On June 9, from 1-3 pm, the world's largest gathering of people reading
in lawn chairs will take place in the Parsonage field in the center of
Westhampton, MA. Lounging for Literacy is part fun, part stunt, and part
a serious effort to promote the importance of literacy, reading and
public libraries. The 2-hour celebration will include activities for
children (story-telling, sing-a-long, face painting), places where you
can write down the names of your favorite books, local author
book-signings, food, a raffle drawing and more.

Come as you are or as your favorite character. And, if you can, bring
a delegation to represent your business, book club or favorite organization!
