ZEA MAYS PRINTMAKING TO HOST EDIBLE BOOK EXHIBIT AND TEA

Saturday, April 3, 2004 Zea Mays Printmaking in Florence (Northampton), MA will host the first Edible Book Exhibit and Tea in Western Massachusetts. Proceeds will help support an annual exhibition of artists' books to be held in June 2004 and a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

This year marks the Fifth International Edible Book Festival, which will occur throughout the world April 1-5, 2004. People are invited to create books out of materials that can be eaten. For this Tea all works of art must be edible and have something to do with books (interpretation of a book is welcome), and any consumable materials may be used. The edible books will be exhibited at the studio from 3-4pm. Tea is served and at 4pm, the books are photographed and then it's dig in! Those who create and exhibit edible books are welcome free of charge. Those who come for the viewing and eating are asked for a $5 donation.

Countries included in the past two years are Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, with new additions of Morocco and Japan. Teas have been held in many locations throughout the U.S. including; Arizona, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York and Oregon.

Look for images from past Edible Book Teas on the official website at:
