Josh Price

Introduction to Yiddish Language, Literature, and Culture

Wednesdays April 25, May 2, 16, 23, 30, June 6, 13

7:00 - 8:30 PM in the JCA Small Sanctuary

This class will serve as an introduction to Yiddish language, with the goal
of reading texts. Grammatical material will come largely from Uriel
Weinreich's College Yiddish and Dovid Katz's Grammar of the Yiddish
Language. In addition, this class will offer a broad sketch of Yiddish
literature and culture through discussion of primary sources in translation
and secondary sources in English.

Josh Price studied Yiddish literature and modern Jewish history at Yale. Now
he works as a fellow at the National Yiddish Book Center, overseeing various
digitization projects. This is a one-time opportunity as Josh will be
leaving the area this summer.
