On April 28th, UMass Hillel and UMass Student Alliance for Israel,
with association with the Israel on Campus Coalition, will host a very
special lecture by Danny Atar, the current mayor of the Gilboa Local
Council in Northern Israel
When Mr. Atar went into office, 17 years ago, he started to reform the
local council, and focused on directing more resources to Arab
villages, so to better their infrastructure, education and general
well-being. Through his growing relationship with the local Arab
population, he reached out to the governor of the District of Jenin,
and together they created an enterprise to accomplish and maintain a
relationship between Palestinians and Israelis, based on shared
interests and coexistence. I've attached a JPost article for further
information.
The event will be held in the UMass Campus Center, April 28th starting
7:30PM. We would love to have a big 5 college representation. This is a
great opportunity to learn about activists committed to develop a
sustainable infrastructure for Dialogue, cooperation and coexistence
between Israelis and Palestinian.
Hope to see you all there,
Lipaz
