Not officially from JSU, but this looked like something fun that Hampshire Jews
might be interested in. I'd like to go if anyone would like to come with me (I
do have a car, we'd just have to split cost of the gas)!

Mimouna

      "Mimouna"

   Saturday, April 10, at 8:15PM

  Arts at the Armony

191 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143

Jewish communities in Morocco historically marked the end of Passover by
inviting their Muslim neighbors to celebrate in their homes with food and song.
This unique interfaith holiday indigenous to North Africa is known as
“Mimouna.”
This year in Boston, the American Islamic Congress is proud to help the New
Center for the Arts to revive Mimouna’s inter-faith tradition. Please
join the celebration at Somerville’s Arts at the Armory for an evening of
inter-cultural encounter, where party-goers will experience room after room of
food, music, fashion, and dance.

Artists include Amoud, a local group performing traditional Amazigh (Berber)
music; Collage, an interfaith Turkish dance ensemble; and Club D’Elf, a
fusion band that incorporates various Moroccan music styles, including Gnawa.
Also, don't miss a special performance of classic Moroccan songs of praise by
Boujema’a Razgui and Elias Cohen - as well as Henna artists, a fashion
show presented with Moroccan Caravan, and an exhibit of rare archival photos of
interfaith life from Morocco.
See complete details for the event at the New Center for the Arts.

Bostonians of all backgrounds are invited to attend.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

But the first 50 tickets purchased online are free - so order your tickets today
and use the discount code: MIMOUNA2010.
