Job Description
Title: BBYO Teen Programming Coordinator/BBYO Teen Adviser
Reports to: Rachael Goren, Teen Programming Director
Based at: Jewish Community of Amherst, but work can be completed off-site.
Job purpose: To plan and carry out BBYO (B'nai Brith Youth
Organization)-related teen programming at the JCA, including the
administration, logistics, financials, grant requirements, and
evaluation of the program and leadership.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
1. Implementing age appropriate teen programming through BBYO,
including attending bimonthly board meetings and attending and
assisting in monthly programming.
2. Completing all paperwork and documentation, and handing in receipts
in a timely and accurate fashion, and continuing to follow grant
guidelines, JCA guidelines, and BBYO guidelines for all teen
programming.
3. Planning and carrying out teen programming for 9th-12th grade teens
affiliated and non-affiliated with the JCA and BBYO.
4. Manage the BBYO teen budget, being sure to keep programming costs
within budgetary guidelines.
5. Assist in the BBYO/JCA Collaboration, being sure to keep BBYO teens
engaged and empowered.
6. Assisting in the maintenance of the BBYO Leadership board.
7. Assisting in the maintenance of the teen database, including:
membership status, program attendance, and updated contact
information.
8. Communicating logistical and administrative needs with the teen adviser.
9. Communicating with teen advisor and BBYO office at least once a
month with programming updates and any questions or concerns.
10. Attending monthly supervision with teen adviser at the JCA.
11. Being sure to consult the Amherst Regional High School calendar,
JCA calendar, and JCAT schedule prior to scheduling programs and
events.
12. Assist in BBYO teen programming publicity and marketing.
13. Respond to teen and parent inquiries in a timely fashion.
14. Strengthen the teen's Jewish identity as often as possible,
offering the teens the opportunity to explore their own identity as
Jewish teens.
Specific Job Skills:
• Successful experience working with teens as a counselor, teacher, or
in another related capacity.
• Knowledge of Judaism and Jewish life.
• Ability to work well with teens, parents, fellow professionals and
lay leaders.
• Experience in and proven success with the development, coordination
and implementation of teen program events and activities.
• Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.
• Possesses an engaging/charismatic personality, energetic, creative,
well-organized, a self-starter, a coach, and a high desire to make
things happen.
• Ability to travel as needed throughout Amherst for job related duties.
• Ability to work periodic evening and weekend hours.
Time Commitment: Part-time position, approximately 10-15 hours per month
Salary: $18-$20 per hour
