Jeffrey Shandler is Assistant Professor in Jewish Studies at Rutgers 
University. His publications include "While America Watches: Televising the 
Holocaust" (1999), "Remembering the Lower East Side: American Jewish 
Reflections" (2000), and "Awakening Lives: Autobiographies of Jewish Youth in 
Poland Before the Holocaust" (2002). He co-edited and contributed to 
"Entertaining America: Jews, Movies, and Broadcasting"(2003), and co-curated 
the accompanying exhibit at the Jewish Museum in New York.
