you need to have a high LSAT. For the Masters programs, test scores are
optional. Graduates 5 years out or less are eligilbe, so that means

President Jonathan Lash has opened the door for Hampshire students to be
considered for a full scholarship to Vermont Law School, a terrific
opportunity! VLS is consistently ranked as having the country's top
environmental law program. Deadline to apply at Hampshire has been
extended to 1/23/2014!
Each year, Hampshire can recommend 1 student for one of the following
opportunities:
* *3-year Full Scholarship* for Juris Doctor (JD) program /or/ Joint
JD/Masters. The Masters can be in Environmental Law & Policy (MELP)
or Energy Regulation & Law (MERL)
* *1-year Full Scholarship* for Masters of Environmental Law and
Policy (MELP) program or the Masters of Energy Regulation and Law
(MERL) program
*Eligibility:*
This scholarship is available for a Hampshire student or recent alum (up
to 5 years out, graduated 2009 or after) with a demonstrated commitment
to environmental change and a desire to pursue a degree from VLS.
*Options:*
*A. Scholarship for 3-Year JD or Joint JD/ Masters. Masters can be
either: Environmental Law and Policy (MELP) or Energy Regulation and Law
(MELP):*
* 3-year full-tuition scholarship to VLS for either program, starting
in 2014

* Inclusion in the international program experience with waived
administrative fees

Please respond to each of the essay topics separately. Applicants are
encouraged to be as forthright and open as possible, and should feel
free to discuss unusual circumstances or situations of adversity that
may have influenced their current values. Be aware that both the quality
of your writing and the thoughtfulness of your answers will be evaluated.
*1. *Describe the goals that are motivating you to pursue (a law degree,
or a master?s degree in environmental law and policy). How do you think
the skills and experience you will gain at Vermont Law School will help
you achieve those goals?
*2. *How have you tried to effect change in relation to an issue of
personal, local, or national significance?

Wait to submit your application to VLS until after you hear if you are
being recommended for the VLS Scholarship. The Committee wants to
support you in putting your best application forward and will have
valuable feedback for you to consider before submitting. DO NOT submit
your application before you hear from the Hampshire Committee. We
expect to make decisions by January at latest.
The deadline for the Hampshire nominee to submit their application to
the program of their choice at VLS is February 1.
