Dear Colleagues,
A reminder of tonight's event:
Film: The Murder of Fred Hampton
Following up on former Panther leader Elaine Brown's exciting lecture
during this year's New Student Orientation on the history of the
Black Panther Party, the Office of Multicultural Education invites
you to a special screening of Mike Gray's 1971 film, "The Murder of
Fred Hampton," introduced by Amy Jordan, SS faculty in African
American History.
Mike Gray started out to make a film about the Black Panther Party,
but on Dec. 4, 1969, the Chicago police raided a Panther apartment
and his film became a documentary about a murder. This is a look at
the Party, its chairman, and the events following his death. Come
learn more about the Panther leadership and the efforts made by local
and Federal authorities to eradicate the movement during the Nixon
administration.
This event is on Tuesday, September 26th, 2006.
It is held at : FPH Main Lecture Hall
This event starts at 7:00 pm, and ends at 9:00 pm.
Sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Education and the Law Program
