Hello Everyone -- You are invited to a LAW LUNCH on Thursday, April 7 from noon - 1:00 p.m. with Robert Meeropol, the younger son of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg and author of "An Execution in the Family." He will be talking about "McCarthy-Era Lessons for Bush''s America."
Robert Meeropol was six years old when his parents, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, were sent to the electric chair in 1953, executed by the U.S. Government after one of the most hotly debated trials in American history. For many, the executions were the ultimate example of Cold War, anti-communist hysteria. Now, in the wake of 9/11 and the war with Iraq, the Homeland Security Act and the USA PATRIOT Act have given the government unprecedented new powers to investigate citizens' lives in the name of preventing terrorism. In this talk, Robert Meeropol will discuss his parents' case and the many dangerous parallels between 1953 and post-9/11 America.
