These weekly sessions are the perfect place to start getting ready to 
study abroad. Types of programs, financial aid, integration with your 
academics, logistics, and all other major topics will be covered.

This Jan-term Hampshire will be running a two week field study course in 
the west of Ireland. The course will explore the impact of 6000 years of 
agriculture on the landscape, ecology, social life, language and culture 
of Ireland. Students interested in the course should come to this info 
session, where they will learn more about the course and have a chance 
to ask questions.

spring (2012), your completed application must be submitted to the 
Global Education Office by 4:00pm.

January Short-Term ’12 Program Applications are due to the Global 
Education Office by 4:00pm.

Students intending to Study Abroad for the Spring ’12 semester must 
submit their intent to study abroad to CASA by 4:00pm.

Tuesday 10/7

The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study 
abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act 
of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate 
students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or 
four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs 
worldwide.

Freeman-ASIA accepts applications from U.S. citizens or permanent 
residents studying at the undergraduate level at a two-year or four-year 
college or university who demonstrate financial need to study abroad in 
East or Southeast Asia.

Boren Scholarships and Fellowships provide unique funding opportunities 
for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to add an important 
international and language component to their educations. The 
scholarship focuses on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study 
that are critical to U.S. national security

*>> Scholarships for Specific China and India Programs<<*

The Alliance for Global Education has announced two new scholarships for 
students studying on two of their courses. Students taking Globalization 
Then and Now: Xi’an and the Silk Road, and students taking Public Health 
and Indian Studies, are eligible to apply for one of the scholarships. 
These scholarships are merit and need-based, and are worth $7000.

Scholarship applications for India are due October 15^th ; for China 
they are due November 1^st .

In addition, need based-scholarships of up to $4,500 are available to 
students who have been accepted in to any Alliance program in China or 
India.

The Rainbow SIG is pleased to announce a new scholarship for American 
LGBT students studying abroad. Hosted and administrated by the Fund for 
Education Abroad (FEA), the FEA rainbow scholarship will award up to 
$5000 dollars for the 2012-13 academic year.

The deadline for the first award is November 14^th , 2011.

*>> Cambodia Winter Break Service Trip<<*

This winter break come participate in a internationally award winning 
service learning trip in Cambodia! Students will work with new 
participants, returning participants, and Cambodian student leaders to 
work on sustainable development projects while also visiting some of the 
major sites in Cambodia, from Angkor Wat to the infamous Killing Fields. 
This year students will be building compost toilets and bringing safe 
drinking water to Cambodian communities under a grant from Rotary 
International, as well as having the opportunity to craft their own 
projects as well.

Sciences Po is one of Hampshire College’s Exchange programs. Located in 
Paris, the school is now pleased to announce that they will be running a 
semester-long undergraduate program in Journalism, taught in English.

Interested in studying in the Middle East or North Africa? AMIDEAST 
provides semester, summer, and short-term programs in Egypt, Jordan, 
Morocco, and Tunisia. AMIDEAST’s priorities are ensuring student safety 
and security, providing a rigorous Arabic and Area Studies academic 
program, and bridging the gap between the Arab world and the west by 
providing ample opportunities for interaction with local students.

The deadline for Spring and Summer 2012 applications is October 15^th .

*>>**Computer Science in Budapest, Hungary<<*

The Aquincum Institute of Technology (AIT) in Budapest, Hungary, is now 
accepting applications for the Spring 2012 semester. AIT offers an 
English Language study abroad experience for undergraduates majoring in 
computer science, software engineering, and related disciplines. Their 
innovative curriculum integrates design entrepreneurship, and 
foundational courses in computer science with advanced applications in 
fields such as computational biology and computer vision. They have a 
distinguished faculty that includes Ernő Rubik, the inventor of Rubik’s 
Cube. The school also offers several engaging humanities courses related 
to Hungary’s rich cultural heritage.
