Hello!
We’ve got a few quick updates for you all.

First, GEO would like congratulate Hampshire’s recipients of the
Freeman-ASIA scholarship: Jasmine Washington and Julianne Chaloux! Both
Jasmine and Julianne were awarded funds to support their participation
in Hampshire’s Intensive Chinese Language Program in Hefei, China this
summer.

There are many opportunities for students seeking to study abroad to
obtain scholarships and funding to help cover the cost of their trip.
The GEO office and website (http://www.hampshire.edu/geo/funding.htm)
has information about many of these opportunities.

In addition, we would like to highlight the Fund for Education Abroad
(FEA), a new scholarship opportunity which has just announced its first
round of awards this year. FEA awards need and merit-based scholarships
to US citizens studying at least four weeks abroad, with preference
towards students doing a program with a service learning or volunteer
component, students studying in a program known for academic rigor or
immersion, and students studying in non-traditional destinations. For
more information, visit http://www.fundforeducationabroad.com/

Carl Elsaesser describing his division 3 film:
Two parents insert themselves into their son's diary and assume several
roles until the diary realizes their presence. As the passages fall
apart and the son violently tries to get rid of his parents, a film crew
appears-framing specifics-searching for concrete answers to an echoing
repression. There is Wind That Blows explores the relationship between,
closeted repression, film making, narrative representation, family
history and agency.
