Between 1995 and 2000, more than 330,000 women and some 30,000 men were
forcibly sterilized in Peru during the dictatorial rule of Alberto
Fujimori. Peruvian government officials, South American decision makers,
and Western leaders saw these poor and illiterate Quechua Indians as a
grave new threat to the future of mankind.
A Woman's Womb, an investigative documentary produced by Temps Noir and
designed for prime time broadcast to a wide general audience, exposes
the scandal of coercive population control policies through interviews
with Quechua women and officials responsible for the abuse. It also
highlights the role played by Peruvian feminist activists in stopping
the forced sterilizations.

Lingshi is a mountain village situated at an altitude of 12,000 feet in
the Great Himalayan region of Bhutan. It is a four-day trek through the
wilderness from Bhutan's capital city, Thimphu. 49 year-old Ugen Tenzin
has been Lingshi's postal runner for 26 years. This documentary follows
his journey in the winter when the route is snowbound and in mid-summer
when the monsoons lash out. Ugen spends twelve to fifteen days of the
month traveling. Despite the risks and the tiring ascents and descents
of high mountains and valleys, he plans to continue until his
retirement. Ugen Tenzin has served as a mail runner for 36 years and
retired at the age of 55 in January 2010. The films offer striking
portraits of contemporary Bhutan.
