*Studying Abroad in Russia*
Thursday Nov. 11th, 5:30 - 7:00pm, Amherst College Russian House (Boltwood Ave,
Amherst Center)

A panel of Five-College students will talk about their Russian-related
experience: Summer programs, studying in St. Petersburg, Moscow, finding
scholarships.

*Info Session: Woods Hole Semester in Environmental Science (SES)*
Friday, Nov. 12th, 2:30 pm, Dakin Living Room

Plunge into this full-immersion science experience and spend over 20 hours every
week working in the field and in the lab facilities at the world renowned Marine
Biological Laboratory. The Semester in Environmental Science (SES) is a full
semester of course credit taught by a faculty of researchers who are among
ecology’s top scientists. Students examine global environmental problems within
the context of local ecosystems. For more information:

SAVE THE DATE: STUDY ABROAD DEADLINES

*Enrollment Notification Deadline*
If you are planning to do a Hampshire Exchange Program or International Field
Study on Spring 2011, you will need to notify the college (through CASA) by the
ENROLLMENT NOTIFICATION DEADLINE on FRI, NOV 12TH.

*IMPORTANT* the Global Education Office will be CLOSED NOV 10 & NOV 11. In
addition, the directors will not be available for FIELD STUDY signatures on NOV
9th. Since the Enrollment Notification Deadline is FRI, NOV 12th, please plan
ahead.

SPECIAL INFORMATION – STUDY ABROAD IN AFRICA

*Food Sovereignty Tours*
Mali and Senegal: World Social Forum & African Solutions to the Food Crisis.
Jan. 31 - Feb. 12, 2011

West Africa is an important global hub of resistance to corporate control of the
food system and the struggle for Food Sovereignty. This tour of Mali, Senegal,
and the World Social Forum in Dakar, with a local guide and translator to show
you around, will give you a taste of local food, politics and the global food
system. You will become familiar with large-scale efforts like, the Green
Revolution in Africa that promote increased corporate control of seeds and
land. You will see the impacts of genetically modified crops and what local
farmers and citizens have to say about it.

The Mount Holyoke College program in Dakar offers students a unique opportunity
to combine the study of Senegal’s past and present with internships and

geographical location, diverse population, and historic relationships with its
neighbors and with Europe. It is the birth-place of Francophone African
