Antioch Education Abroad Programs

Buddhist Studies in Japan: (Kyoto, Japan; Fall Semester) Explore Japan
(and explore yourself) through the study and practice of Zen, Shingon, and
True Pure Land. This program introduces students to the development,
teachings and diverse cultural expressions of Japanese Buddhism, including
such arts as flower arranging, calligraphy, and the tea ceremony. Students
not only have the opportunity to study Buddhism in theory, but actually
participate in a variety of Buddhist meditative and chanting practices, as
well as learn the Japanese language (on an optional basis) while pursuing
their own academic interests through a directed research project.

Buddhist Studies in India: (Bodh Gaya, India; Fall Semester) A semester of
study and meditation while living in a Buddhist monastery near the site of
Buddha Shakyamuni’s Enlightenment. This program weaves together the diverse
resources of Bodh Gaya into a fall semester of study emphasizing a
comparative approach to both theory and practice. At the heart of the
Buddhist Studies in India program is the desire to allow students to
explore
this subject from as many different points of view as possible. During the
final month of the program, students have the opportunity to travel to a
Buddhist community of their choice in South or Southeast Asia in order to
complete an Independent Study Project. aea.antioch.edu/india

Antioch in Germany (Tübingen University; Fall or Full Year options):
Experience life in Germany while studying and living at Tübingen
University.
This program encourages complete immersion while supporting the needs
of American students abroad. Emphasis is placed on pre-semester
preparation, with four to eight weeks of language training at a Goethe
Institute, followed by a four-week intensive orientation program through
the
university's German Compact Program. Students then spend one semester or a
full year directly enrolled in university courses. aea.antioch.edu/germany
