MONDAY, SEPT 24
The Environment as a Catalyst for Peace in the Middle East: A 
presentation by alumni of the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies
@ Merrill Living Room, noon-1pm
This topic is presented by alumni from the Arava Institute for 
Environmental Studies. Located in southern Israel, the Arava Institute 
is the premier environmental teaching and research program in the Middle 
East, preparing future Arab and Jewish leaders to cooperatively solve 
the region's environmental challenges. The Arava Institute also offers 
study abroad opportunities to North American students, so if you're 
interested in participating, attend this presentation! (Note: lunch will 
NOT be provided, please plan ahead and bring a lunch or eat before or 
after the presentation.)

Operation Wallacea

The conservation group Operation Wallacea are currently looking for 
university students to assist in biodiversity assessment and 
conservation management projects in Indonesia, Honduras, Peru, South 
Africa and Egypt. University students who join these projects therefore 
have a unique opportunity to participate in real scientific research 
projects and work alongside an experienced team of academics.  Come to

Cuban Photojournalist Hector Delgado Perez

Come see Hector Delgado Perez present his work!  His work's themes 
include contemporary Cuban society and culture, Afro-Cuban culture and

OPPORTUNITIES FOR GOING ABROAD
Planning to go on a Hampshire exchange abroad in Spring '08?  The 
deadline for applying is October 17!  Please call our office to schedule 
a meeting with Brianna to discuss your plans if you haven't already done so!

Interested in going on Hampshire's January Term programs?  The deadline 
to apply is October 17!  There will be an interest meeting on October 3

ISEP Exchange to France, Spring 08
If you want to study in France next semester, there are still places 
left in the ISEP program!  ISEP Exchange to France (and many other 
countries) is an official Hampshire exchange program.  An ISEP-Exchange 
to France is an affordable option that allows you to enroll directly in 
a French university in practically any field of study, master your 
French, explore French culture and life while working toward your 
degree, and participate in extracurricular activities with French 
students and others from around the country and the rest of the world.

Jan-Term Abroad with George Mason University
The Center for Global Education at George Mason University is offering a 
variety of short-term intensive language programs and study tours in 
January 2008. Language programs will be offered in Mexico, Italy, 
Germany, Yemen and Morocco and study tours will take place in Western & 
Central Europe, Latin America and Africa. Application deadline is 
October 5, 2007.

FELLOWSHIPS & SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships for a Study Abroad + Internship Program in Germany
UAS7, a consortium of 7 leading German Universities of Applied Sciences,
is pleased to announce that our innovative joint scholarship program SIP
(Study & Internship in Germany) is entering its second year. In
cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), we will be
granting 45 scholarships for the academic year 2008/09. All applications 
for the academic year 2008/09 must be postmarked no later than February 
15, 2008.

Café Abroad - Fall 2007, Issue 2
A student-generated magazine distributed to 300 universities' and 
colleges' study abroad offices -- including Hampshire's GEO office!  It 
features stories and photos by students studying abroad, and also 
encourages student submissions.  This fall's issue includes features on 
Senegal, Paris, London, Manchester, Barcelona's bull fighting, Japan's
