Subject: Official Invite: Trinity International Hip Hop Festival 2011
The time has come for the 6th annual Trinity International Hip Hop
Festival and Conference!

This year’s event will take place April 1st and 2nd, 2011, once again
hosted by Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. This year’s theme is
“The Healing Power of Hip Hop” and we have a full schedule of amazing
programming centered around the theme. We will be launching the full
schedule and press release this week, but we wanted to give you all a
sneak peek at what we are doing:

- Concert including Jean Grae and artists from South Africa, Brazil,
Canada, Mail, Syria and the USA.
- Networking dinner with keynote speech by Thomas Alvarez of Beats, Rhymes
and Life
- Screening of films Bouncing Cats and Hiplife in Ghana
- B-Boy/B-Girl Exhibition Battle with international participants
- Panel Discussion “Hip Hop and the new global horizon” with Vijay
Prashad, Rosa Clemente, Jlove Caldreon and Omar Offendum.
- Panel Discussion “The Healing Power of Hip Hop”
- And much more!

We also want to invite you to attend the festival as an official delegate.
One of the most important things about the festival over the years has
been the connections made by artists and participants. We have seen
international collaborations, innovative projects and large scale tours
result from relationships established during the Trinity Festival. Last
year we started an official delegate system, bringing a conference aspect
to the festival. Global hip hop scholars, activists, event promoters and
educators are invited to attend the programming, network and share their
work. Last year we had over 130 people from more than 20 countries
represented and we expect even more this year! Delegates receive priority
entrance to all events, free food on campus all day Friday and Saturday
plus a discounted rate at our hotel.

We have a block of rooms reserved at the Holiday Inn Express in downtown
Hartford. Delegates can book a room through us for $85 (for two nights –
double occupancy rooms, each with two queen beds). If you can get back to
us by March 16th.

If you are able to attend, please send me the following information: Name
Organization
Address
Email Address
Cell Phone
Method of transportation into Hartford (plane, train, bus, car)
Will you need ground transportation in Hartford?

Once I have your information, you will receive an email PayPal invoice for
the $85. Once that is paid, your spot it solidified!

I hope to hear back from you and see you all on April 1st at Trinity
College.

Community Advocacy is the name of the department in Student Life, which
includes Multicultural and International Student Services (and the
Lebron-Wiggins-Pran Cultural Center); Queer Student Services (and the
Queer Community Alliance Center); Women Student Services (and the Center
for Feminisms); Spiritual Life (and the Spiritual Life Center); and

Community Advocacy at Hampshire College promotes the wellbeing of the
entire campus community, fosters connections across social identities
and ideas, and engages in passionate and compassionate dialogue and
programs. We support and provide resources for the holistic development
of students with the goals of nourishing student initiatives; increasing
awareness and appreciation of different cultures, backgrounds, and
