Coordinators and mentors needed for A Day at Hampshire College
A Day at Hampshire is a reciprocally collaborative and stimulating
experience
for both Hampshire College and Peck students. Hampshire students of all
divisions have the opportunity to critically and creatively plan and
facilitate
the event, as well as potentially take up a mentorship role for the Peck
students. This college awareness experience will present the opportunity for
eighth graders to engage with students, staff, and faculty. At the same
time,
the day creates a Community Engaged Learning opportunity for Hampshire
students.
A multiplicity of workshops and courses, selected by the Day at Hampshire
College planning committee, will be presented to each Peck student to create
what their experience, both inside and outside of the classroom, will look
like. Validating each individual students agency, we will strive to provide
entry points, based on their preferences, for further engagement in
particular
fields in the future. Lastly, Hampshire students participating as
mentors will
attend mentor trainings that provide critically engaged resources and
dialogues
essential in preparation for the day itself, their multidisciplinary
academic
studies, and their further community engaged work.
The planning committee is looking for student mentors, as well as three
Hampshire students to fill the following positions:
Logistical Coordinator
Hampshire Student Mentor Coordinator
Marketing Art/Design Coordinator
Positions are unpaid, yet can qualify as an independent study, a learning
activity, or a CEL requirement.
