Hi All,
*This is a heads up that FOLIO will be down for a planned upgrade beginning
Monday night at 9pm and ending around 7am on Tuesday morning*. Chris and
Cecelia, if anyone checks out books or keys during your shift, you will
need to write the transactions down on the sheets on the clipboard next to
the head count binder. You will have to rely on the printouts of the key
permission emails in the head count binder to know if students are
authorized to borrow keys. If a patron borrows a key and then returns it
during your shift, you can cross it out on the form when the key is
returned. Any items that were checked out before 9pm need to be placed on
the return cart with the orange sign, so that we know to check them in when
FOLIO comes back up Tuesday morning.
Patrons will be able to use Discover to look up books, but books may appear
to be available when they really are not. Patrons will also not be able to
use their accounts, so they will not be able to place hold requests during
the upgrade. The upgrade is supposed to finish around 7:00am on Tuesday
morning, So long as the upgrade is successful, all items that were checked
out on the clipboard Monday night will get checked out in FOLIO on Tuesday
morning.
*We have now have a new commercial Keurig machine at the InfoBar.*
Patrons, and you, may brew a cup during library hours. Patrons just need to
ask us for a pod. Right now we have a variety of flavors because that's
what was ordered for us. We'll probably also put tea out at some
point, and I will be getting decaf pods.. Paper cups, sugar,
non-refrigeratable creamers, stirrers, and napkins will be kept on the
counter near the machine. We will be receiving a tabletop trash can soon.
In the meantime, there is a bowl labeled for trash and one for the used
coffee pods. The coffee pods are compostable, so we will collect them and
I will bring them to a pickup location in dining periodically, so they can
go to the commercial composting facility.
The pods are being stored below the book zapper. Patrons can take
their pick of flavors. Do look through the ones in the ziploc bags first
before opening a brand new pack of pods. If you do open a new one, please
put the rest of the pods in a ziploc - the box of bags is next to the
pods. There are also two water jugs below the counter for refilling
the machine. If both jugs are empty, I ask you to fill them up at the
fountain on the 3rd floor (during the head count is a good time!). The top
right panel of the machine comes off easily to add more water. Staff will
try to keep an eye on sugars and creamers. I do ask that you add more
water if you notice the machine being used a lot during your shift. I also
ask that the closing students use the Lysol wipes on the staff desk to wipe
up the area at the end of the night. If the trash fills up, please empty
it into the wastebasket at the InfoBar. I will be bringing in a receptacle
for used pods on Tuesday. This is a new thing for us, so feel free to give
us suggestions or feedback regarding the coffee setup.
*Lastly, I am working for Nebraska today, so I will be off tomorrow. *Tatjana
and Rachel will be covering for me in the morning, and Nebraska will be in
for their shift at 2:00.
Please reach out if you have questions about anything mentioned in this
email.
Thank you,
Suzanne
