Hi All,
Although classes are canceled for the Engage conference the library will
be open regular hours. If you want to participate in the conference
please do post for subs. However, if you are not able to find a sub and
you want to attend the Engage conference, know that you can do so, just
let us know ahead of time. Olivia, Sam, and I can cover the library so
that you can attend the conference.
Suzanne

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
ENGAGE IN OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY TOMORROW [1]
Students, staff, faculty,
Please join us tomorrow as we commit to our values of diversity,
antiracism, inclusion, and access at our 3rd annual ENGAGE! community
day at Hampshire. Classes are cancelled and we ask departments to flex
staff schedules to enable participation in the day-long opportunity to
build and rebuild bridges, connect with each other, and communicate
across our differences.
You are welcome to attend all or some of the workshops; same-day
registration will be held from 8:30 a.m. to Noon at FPH. The event
program including workshop titles and facilitators is attached below,
and an overview of the schedule is available for download here [2].
Event highlights include:
* Opening ceremony at 9:00 a.m. in FPH Courtyard
* Choice of diversity workshops from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in FPH
* Artist and activist Mary Pottenger is in residence this week
facilitating story circles and interviewing community members, resulting
in a workshop/performance at ENGAGE! from 2:00-5:00 p.m. in the Main
Lecture Hall (community members are welcome as audience and don't have
to perform)
* Community reception at 5:00 p.m. in FPH lobby
The event Webpage is hamp.it/engage [3].
We hope you'll join us as we affirm our commitment to social justice and
foster a campus culture based in respect, empathy, and compassion.

Natalie Sowell, Dean of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion
