Hi everyone,

I wanted to write up a quick follow up and ask that when you do shelf read, you log it in the Google Sheet (found in the Libguide). I’m sorry I didn’t stress this before!

Subject: Stacks Maintenance Assignments
Importance: High

Hi everyone,

Happy new year and welcome back! This semester one of my goals is to get the stacks in tip-top shape. It’s hard for one person (me) to keep track of what needs fixing so I’ve enlisted the help of you all.

Each of you has been assigned a section of the library to maintain for the semester. What does maintenance entail, you ask? Once a shift (as staffing availability allows), I expect you to go to your area with the following ranked priorities:

1. Ensure that the area looks neat. Straighten items, close gaps, and align them with the edge of the shelf.
2. Ensure items are in call number order.
3. Shifting if necessary, if there’s no room on a shelf.

You can find your assignments here, and I will be posting the link in the LibGuide as well. I’ll be spot-checking your work throughout the semester. Some sections of the library are worse off than others, so please, if you find an issue you feel is too much to handle, or you need supplies like bookends, let me know.

The stacks are a living, breathing part of the library that need constant upkeep, so I thank you all for helping me make the library a more efficient resource.
