Hi All,
Don't forget the schedule meeting is Tuesday, 9/10, at 5:30p.m. in the
Bradford Room on the library 2nd floor. You will choose the schedules
that you will work at this meeting. Attendance is MANDATORY. If you
cannot attend please give me your class schedule so that I can choose
shifts for you.
Other Reminders:
-Printing: When there is an error code on the copiers, make sure to
check the drawers to make sure there is paper in the machines. The
paper is back in the cabinet to the right of the InfoBar, toner and
drums are in the wood cabinet next to the paper if you need to change
them. For some reason jobs were wanting to be drawn from tray 5
sometimes. Tray 5 is the bypass tray, so make sure there is paper
there too. The bypass tray is on the left side of the machines.
-Gimlet: Please make sure you log in to Gimlet at the start of your
shift so that you can log the questions that you take during your
shift. If you don't remember your password let me know and I will
delete your account and let you create a new password. There are
shortcuts to Gimlet on both InfoBar computers in Firefox.
-Keys: The code to the box is 8537. You must check the Patron Notes
tab in the patron record to verify that a student may borrow a key
before checking it out to them. To check who has a key, use the
binoculars (search) tab, drop the menu down to search the base HC
STaff Cat, and do a Title search. Enter the title in this format: Key
#xxx where the x's are the key number. After you find the right
record double click on it or click the Circulation button in the
bottom right of the screen.
-Dealing with Moldy Books: Earlier this week our director Jennifer
emailed the community to alert them to our humidity problem which led
to some mold growth on books on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Some books
are worse than others. We have several large and small dehumidifiers
in the building to make conditions better. The air is safe as experts
have been taking samples in the building throughout the week. The
building is a bit warm because the air is so dry, so you might want to
dress in layers. If patrons wish to borrow books that have mold on
them, you may take the books to the circulation office and use the
vacuum next to my desk to vacuum off the mold. The problem was caught
in time so that the mold is only on the surface of the books. All you
need to vacuum is the cover and the exposed sides of the pages. For
books that have jackets please look under the jackets to see if there
is mold growing on the cover. Over the weekend you may use the key in
the key box to get in to the circulation office to vacuum the books.
-Keys for custodians: There is a set of keys, on a tag marked 13,
that the campus custodians may ask for. You do not need to check them
out, just hand them to the custodian. These keys are for access to
rooms that do not open with the building master, so that the
custodians may get in to empty the dehumidifiers in those rooms.
-Time cards: The pay period ends today, so check to see if your time
card is available on the hub. If you did not complete your employment
contract yet you will not be eligible to be paid.
Thanks and have a good weekend. Email me if you have questions about
anything in this message. I will not be on email much so if you need
an immediate response call my cell, 413-478-1619.
