[Circulation] Fines and Reserves

Hi Everyone,

A couple of reminders:

Fines and information about overdue materials are confidential information.
When messages about overdue items and fines pop up when you are in a
patron's record, please do not mention them to the patron. Only provide
information to the patron when he or she asks for it. The patron will
already have received email and paper correspondence regarding their
delinquencies. By going by what the computer says, you risk misinforming
the patron because it is not a true reflection of what the patron actually
owes. Patrons should see me with billing questions because my paper files
track how much patrons owe and whether or not their charges have been sent
to the business office yet.

Personal Reserve items (books and videos/DVD¹s) are supposed to be shelved
in alphabetical order by title. I¹ve seen some very creative shelving in
the personal section lately. Please file these items alphabetically so we
can find them when we need them. Keep in mind that you ignore the articles
(a, an, the) when filing by title (and searching in the catalog).

Questions? Ask me if you are unsure about anything in this email.

Suzanne
