[Circulation] circ desk reminders

Hi Everyone,

Just a few reminders about working at the desk:

1.  Reserve DVD's and Videos
There has been some creative shelving of the reserve dvd's and videos 
this week.  Please shelve them in alphabetical order by the title. 
In many cases, the first 2 or 3 letters of the title is marked on the 
spine of the case.  You may have to do some shifting at times to make 
all the items fit on a shelf.

2.  Reshelving Carts
At this time of the year it's not uncommon for one call number range 
of a cart to fill up faster than the other.  For instance,  on the 
HQ-P cart this morning, the HQ-N side was full and there was room on 
the P side.  Instead of putting the overflow on the sorting shelves, 
please move some of the HQ-N books onto the P side to fill up the 
cart.  We want to fill up carts as rapidly as we can so that we can 
shelve them as quickly as we can.  It feels busier as far as returns 
right now, but you haven't seen anything yet.  Students will be 
returning boxes, bags, and armloads of books before leaving for break 
next week.

3.  5 College Returns
Very soon the return shelves for the other colleges will fill up. 
When that happens, we'll be stacking returned 5 college books on the 
floor designated areas (after the books have been checked in, of 
course).  We'll be labeling the different areas for the different 
schools soon.  When we're at that point, please be very careful that 
the books get onto the right piles.

4.  Dec. 16 and 17
Thank you to the students who volunteered to work next Thursday and 
Friday.  Although both days are nearly covered with one student per 
shift, I want to invite other interested students to sign up for 
hours.  Double and triple coverage is not discouraged because we'll 
need lots of help checking in, sorting, and especially shelving. 
Please tell me by Tuesday the latest if you will be working on 
Thursday or Friday.
