Presenter:
Denise Paro

Description:
Join Deaf mentor, Denise Paro, in a potpourri of games and activities to
enhance your ASL proficiency! The focus will be on dropping English form
and using ASL handshapes to convey concepts.

This work group focuses on PRACTICE - allowing you to work on your use
of ASL with support, guidance and plenty of opportunity to ask questions
within a small group environment.

Target Audience:
Mentees, new and newer interpreters

Cost:
$25

CEU/ACET:
.25

About the Presenter:
Denise Paro comes from a Deaf family, with Deaf parents and two Deaf
brothers. She grew up in Chocopee, MA and graduated from the American
School for the Deaf in West Hartford, CT and the National Technical
Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, NY. She and her beloved husband
Ken, who was also Deaf, raised three growing sons. She has two grandsons
plus a new granddaughter  on the way.  Denise is a Deaf mentor with The
Mentorship Program and also continues her involvement with the Family
Sign Language program. She was an ASL instructor at Holyoke Community
College, and she has set a new goal of becoming a Deaf Interpreter.
Denise works at Advocates, Inc. and The Learning Center for the Deaf.
She has worked in human services for many years and is also an active
volunteer in the Deaf community. Denise has a  full life  with her sons,
grandchildren and black lab, Pepper. She loves camping, spiritual
gatherings and gardening.
