Hey Asian Media,
Guess what? I couldn't go to Asian Media last week because I was too busy
failing my finals. But now that I'm past that, I realize that there's no reason
we shouldn't have the REAL final screening of the semester tomorrow. So what
will we be screening? How about:

8PM - Kiki's Delivery Service - Why not end with some nice Miyazaki? Especially
one I haven't seen before *gasp*. Kiki, a young witch-in-training, has reached
the age of 13. According to tradition, all witches of that age must leave home
for one year, so that they can learn how to live on their own. Kiki, along with
her talking cat Gigi, fly away to live in the seaside town of Korico. After
starting her own delivery service (using her broom as the delivery vehicle),
Kiki must learn how to deal with her new life, especially after she loses the
power to fly.

9:30PM - At Home Dad - Live-action drama; A decent drama that only seems to get
more interesting as I watch more of it. Believe it or not, there's a very large
disparity between men and women in the workplace in Japan. Men are expected to
go out and earn the daily bread, while the women are responsible for taking
care of the house and kids. So what happens when a famous ad exec loses his
job, and his wife is offered one? Is he in for a vacation or will taking care
of the housework prove to be too hectic for him to handle?

As always, Asian Media is on Wednesdays starting at 8PM in the East Lecture Hall
of FPH. Consider it a good break from working on final papers, lab reports,
animations etc. Also, it's my last Asian Media for awhile, as I'm going to
Japan next fall, so come say goodbye to me!

Or just come because what we're showing is awesome, and you know it.

See you space cowboys,
Sam
