[Asianmedia] Screening for 3-2-06

How are you?

I'll give you a moment to let the impact of that question sink in by telling you
about the screening this Thursday when we'll be showing:

8:00-Tampopo-Described as the first “noodle western” for it’s parody of American
Western and Japanese Samurai fims, Tampopo is the story of a truck driver on a
search for the best Ramen in the world, who pulls into a decrepit roadside fast
food place which sells the noodles in question. The restaurant isn’t doing so
well, so he pledges to help the owner, the widow Tampopo, research the perfect
noodle and open the perfect noodle business. A very well-known and highly
regarded Japanese film.

9:30-9:45-Genshiken-This week, Madarame (glasses guy) has a very stressful
encounter with Saki-san(anti-otaku) when he arrives back at the Genshiken room
and discovers her the only one there. Then the gang take a trip to a very
unlikely destination; the beach. Sasahara's sister comes along with them too
though, and she's still got her eye on Kohsaka...

You may noticed that we're trying something different this week and putting the
movie first. That's because we may be getting some five-college guests this
week for Tampopo. But just remember to stick around afterwards is all.

And of course, as always, Asian media is Thurday nights at 8:00 in the East
Lecture Hall of FPH.
