sorry i was slackish about being clear about this:

there is still the possibility of work study (final meeting about the
funding takes place next week, so there's still no promises from the
administration)

but:
as a work study position, you would have to be fairly competent as a
bicycle mechanic (or at least know basically how one works mechanically)

to volunteer, you need no prior experience (that's why the staff person
has to be competent) because we will TEACH you.
