<p>I am writing to you because you have either expressed interest or I thought you might be interested in a discussion about how the Hampshire Theater department and community can be made more inclusive of gender variant and trans students. I am also e-mailing the listserv for the Gender Identity Resource Network (Grin) in case there are other people who want to be involved but whom I do not know personally.</p>

<p>Theater is a place where we open ourselves up and allow ourselves to be vulnerable. Therefore, it is incredibly important that it be a space where everyone feels safe. Unsurprisingly, this is not yet true of Hampshire theater. </p>

<p>Students: My hope is that this will be a space to share our experiences and brainstorm ideas for what needs to be done to make Hampshire Theater a safer space for gender variant and trans students.</p>

<p>Faculty: You are invited to this space listen. We may also wish for your perspective on administrative restrictions, what is possible and how the realm of the possible can be stretched, and your support in communication with other faculty and staff.</p>
