Split Britches, is an icon of lesbian/queer/feminist performance... if
you've seen her, you'll know... if you haven't youu need to to fully
understand WHY.
So... see if you can get there AND circulate info to all groups/friends

Dear Students and Faculty,
Here's something you don't want to miss! Peggy Shaw, co-founder of the
legendary lesbian theatre ensemble Split Britches, will be performing MUST:
The Inside Story in Bartlett Hall 65 on Tuesday, April 5 and Wednesday,
April 6 at 8pm. Tickets ($5.00) are on sale now at the Fine Arts Center
(545-2511) or available at the door.
Peggy is also appearing in the Fine Arts Center lobby at 4pm on Tuesday,
April 5--"A Conversation with Peggy Shaw" will be open to the public and
free. She will be interviewed there by Jen Cayer and Daniel Sack.
Must: The Inside Story was developed in collaboration with the Clod
Ensemble for their "Performing Medicine" series, and it has toured
internationally to schools, hospitals, and theaters. It is a deeply
moving and intimate account of such things as the birth of her child on the
way to Woodstock in 1969, her motherâs electro-shock therapy in the
1950âs, and being a 65-year-old âbutch lesbian grandmother.âÂ
Inspired by images from Gulliver's Travels, Hildegarde von Bingen, The
Elephant Man and everyday experiences within the medical community, MUST
stares back at the medical gaze and the assumptions people make about each
other's bodies.
Shaw has earned numerous awards and support for her acting and playwriting
including three OBIE awards, National Endowment for the Arts grants, The
Rockefeller Foundation MAP Grant, and New York Foundation for the Arts
awards. In 2005, Shaw was named âPerformer of the Yearâ by The
Foundation for Contemporary Performance.
