performance description:

For nearly three decades, Kate Bornstein and Barbara Carrellas have been
translating identities for themselves, each other, and for anyone who has paid
the price of admission. "There and Back Again" is their latest performative
"edutainment" piece. Kate and Barbara invite you along for a trip down memory
lane as they trace their perilous paths into and through North American lesbian
culture.... a culture that rarely welcomed either of them.

According to the lesbian gate-keepers of the early days, Barbara was too
girly-girl and over the top, and Kate was... well, Kate was a guy who'd
recently turned his penis inside-out. "There and Back Again" is a high energy
entertaining evening of LGBTQ history, queer theory, storytelling, lap dancing,
tantric sex, slam poetry and a surprise PI (politically important) ending. What
more could you ask for?
