hey all--
below is the description for positions for two summer interns at hampshire.
it would be a great opportunity to continue all the activist work you don't
have time to do during the school year over the summer.  i think they'll be paid
approximately $10/hr (hence: budget pending).  check it out.  to apply, send a

Multicultural Education Internships (2 positions)

Pending final budgetary approval, the Office of Multicultural Education seeks
two student interns during this summer, from June 11 to August 3, 2007.
Starting immediately, we welcome applications from current students or recent
graduates. Interns will assist the Dean of Multicultural Education with
research, design and initial implementation of a number of initiatives related
to race and diversity on campus, including but not limited to the following:

-The design of student workshops for the next academic year.
-The creation of a list of potential guest speakers for the next academic year.
-The planning of trainings and dialogs on race and diversity for campus offices.
-The creation of orientation materials on race and diversity.
-The coordination of activities and efforts related to race and diversity across
different campus centers, such as the Cultural Center, the Women’s Center, and
the QCA.
-The design of an instrument to evaluate attitudes towards diversity on campus.
-The design of faculty conversations around race and diversity in the classroom.
-Other activities as determined by the [dean of multicultural affairs].

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
-Strong commitment to issues of race and diversity on campus
-Ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students from diverse
backgrounds.
-some experience with facilitation and mediation.
-experience with and commitment to student activism on campus
-excellent writing and communication skills


The review of applications will start immediately. Review of applications and
interviews will continue until the positions are filled.
