A Day at Hampshire College

“A Day at Hampshire College”, will be an event hosted by the Childhood, Youth,
and Learning program and the Center for Feminisms.  This is an all day, co-ed
event for thirty to thirty-five students from Peck Middle School in Holyoke.
This college awareness day will be held on April 14th, 2010.

The planning committee is looking for two Hampshire students to fill the
following positions:
Hampshire Student Mentor Coordinator: This coordinator will create and maintain
a Student Mentor up-to-date list and keep track of faculty permissions slips
for Peck students to come to class. This coordinator will organize and
facilitate all materials that need to be translated into Spanish (no fluency in
Spanish needed, the Planning Coordinator can help with this). The coordinator
will also meet with Geovanny Interiano (the Planning Coordinator), Robin
Marion, and Emily Rimmer to make sure that all Peck students have Hampshire
Mentors. Must attend all Coordinator and Planning meetings

Marketing Art/ Design Coordinator: This coordinator should be an artistic and
creative person who will work with student volunteers to design, create, and
organize all program materials, including ADAHC folders for the day of the
event (such as Campus maps, schedule for the day, Hampshire materials, etc).
This coordinator will also work with the others on the organizing team to make
sure that all materials (such as registration packets, etc.) are aesthetically
pleasing and effectively create an exciting image of the ADAHC event. This
coordinator will also be responsible for photographing the event and creating a
slide show for the end of the day presentation.  The coordinator will work with
the Geovanny, Emily and Robin to finalize all the materials. Must attend all
Coordinator meetings and the larger planning meetings.

These positions begin in November and continue until the day of the event. They
can serve for both community service and for an independent study. The
coordinators will work with Robin Marion, CYL Educational Outreach Coordinator,
Emily Rimmer, Director of Women’s and Queer Services, and Geovanny between
faculty, staff, and the Hampshire community. The evaluation for these positions
will be written by Robin Marion, Emily Rimmer, and Kristen Luschen, Professor of
Social Sciences.
