THE AUTONOMOUS SOCIAL MOVEMENTS CARAVAN
in collaboration with
THE ARGENTINA AUTONOMISTA TOUR

COMING TO HAMPSHIRE COLLEGE
TOMORROW SUNDAY OCTOBER 26 AT 7 PM IN
FRANKLYN PATTERSON HALL, EAST LECTURE HALL
DON'T MISS IT, BRING YOUR FRIENDS

Argentinean delegates will speak about what has been called "the most
inspiring popular movement since the Zapatistas." They will discuss the
unemployed workers movement (Piqueteros who build cooperatives and other
community projects in their communities), the Asambleas
(horizontally-organized neighborhood meetings), the workers who have
recently occupied and now self-manage over 200 workplaces, and the special
participation of women in the movement.

The Brazilian delegation will include members of radical land-based
movements, some who have occupied their farmland and practice sustainable
agriculture/permaculture techniques and others who have brought large
lawsuits against Shell Oil and other multinational polluters.

The caravan will also serve to instigate and support organizing against the
Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) Ministerial in Miami (Nov.17-21) and
to close the School of the Americas (SOA/WHISC, Nov. 21-24, Fort Benning,
GA). Through creative presentations the caravan will highlight connections
between the FTAA/capitalist globalization and US global military domination:
often called the "new face of colonialism"
