My name is David Lamb, and I am an Adjunct Prof. at John Jay College in NYC,
where I teach a course entitled Society and Hip Hop Culture. I am the
author of the Hip Hop novel Do Platanos Go Wit' Collard Greens?, which looks
at relations between Latinos and African-Americans. As part of the course
students are required to write an essay addressing the subject "How does
music reflect the historical relationship between African-Americans and
Latinos". VIBE Magazine says "Do Platanos Go Wit' Collard Greens? Asks if
love between a black man and a Latina woman can survive the tumultuous
backdrop of racial politics, police corruption and the NYC mayoral election"
While the SOURCE Magazine describes Platanos as "a fable about ghetto youth
and crooked cops. Platanos drops jewels about history, race, government
corruption and white cops in blue who see young blacks and Latinos and
harass them." If you would like me to speak about Black and Latino relations
then I would suggest co-sponosring the event with a Latino student
organization between Sept 15-Oct 15, 2002, during the upcoming Latino
Heritage Month. I can be reached during the day at (212) 509-5509 or at
night at (718) 398-0595 (if I'm not there just leave a message) or you can
e-mail me, that's always the quickest. Thanks for your time. Peace.

Below in addition to the bio, I've attached links to a picture of me
speaking with students at the University of Chicago, and to an article from
the Brown Herald, relating to my appearance at Brown University. Also
