> On Friday, April 19th, 2002, the Latino Organizations of the Five

> Consortium will be celebrating the sixth annual Latino Day: Pa' lante,
> Siempre Pa' lante. This year Pa'lante Siempre Pa'lante will be
> celebrating
> Latino heritage, politics, and culture with an emphasis on the role of
> Latinas in our communities. The highlight of the event will be a
> performance by "The Women of Ill Repute: REFUTE," a Texas-based
> group
> of
> eight Latina performance poets who range in ages from 20 to 30 years
> old. Inspired by true stories, the script is a compilation of the
> performers' poetry which touches upon issues of rape, molestation,
> sexuality, gender and racial politics, family dynamics, health, and
> spirituality. In addition to the theater performance by "The Women of
> Ill
> Repute: REFUTE," Latino Day will consist of art exhibitions,
> dramatic pieces, poetry readings, dance performances by members of
> the
> five college community and traditional Latino cuisine.
